Deny, in the era of performance and positivity

Estoy escribiendo estas palabras un poco antes de medianoche, y sigo trabajando, sin que nadie me obligue // I am writing these words just before midnight, I am still working, without being forced by someone else

En el contexto de la sociedad del rendimiento, de la hiperactividad, de una creciente obsesión por la positividad ¿cabe un lugar para la negatividad, o para la negación, para la voluntad de negar, de renunciar y de rechazar? En una sociedad donde hasta el arte mismo y sus procesos se visualizan constantemente en representaciones cuantitativas y cuantificables, siguiendo un determinismo mercantilista en el que cesar significaría el fin de la evolución y la provocación de una muerte súbita, surge la pregunta de cómo se usa el sentido de la negatividad, del vacío, del silencio, tal y como se heredaron del pensamiento del siglo XX.

In the context of the society of efficiency, hyperactivity, a growing obsession with positivity: Is there a place for negativity, or denial, for the will to deny, to resign and to refuse? In a society that even the art itself and its processes are constantly displayed in quantitative and measurable representations, following a mercantilist determinism in which every stop means the end of the development and aggravation of a sudden death, the question of how the sense of negativity, emptiness, silence, as inherited from the twentieth century thought, is arised.

¿Bajo qué condiciones, o cómo en un contexto donde las emociones negativas se esconden, se bloquean o se usan abiertamente como formas de shock, donde las condiciones y la masividad provocan más inercia, más entumecimiento que movilización, se puede encontrar alguna posibilidad de negar un papel al aparecer de la obra de arte?

Under what conditions, or how, in a context where negative emotions are hidden, blocked or openly used as forms of shock, where the conditions and the massiveness cause more inertia, more numbness mobilization, you can find any chance of denying paper to appear in the artwork?

Y si las enfermedades psíquicas de nuestra sociedad del rendimiento son enfermedades de una libertad  paradójica, un narcisismo, ¿Cómo se conforma hoy en día el proceso creativo?, ¿Hacia qué sujeto se dirige? ¿Cuál es el papel de la negación y del silencio, y cual es al fin y al cabo el nuevo sujeto-artista al margen de esta imagen de positividad, de hiperactividad, de individualismo y otros productos de los medios de comunicación? Si Argan, en su obra “Proyecto y destino” afirma que “siempre se proyecta contra algo” y si Bachelard decía “pensar es pensar contra alguien” indicando que es imposible proyectar sin esta condición, ¿cómo sería esta frase hoy con un sujeto que piensa de manera distinta, está en constante cambio, en constante conexión con su entorno?  (Anthi Kosma)

And if the mental illnesses of our society performance are diseases of a paradoxical freedom, narcissism, how the creative process today makes up ? To what subject refers? What is the role of denial and silence, and at the end of the day who is the new artist outside this positivity, hyperactivity, individualism and other media products? If Argan, in his book “Project and destiny” states that “we always projected against something” and Bachelard says that “thinking is thinking against someone”, indicating that it is impossible to project without this condition, how would be this phrase today, with a subject that thinks differently, is constantly changing, it is constantly connected with the environment? (Anthi Kosma)
