except Bics with which I feel no affinity

A few days ago Pat Thomson wrote “writing, hand writing and pens“, another lovely post about the practice of writing. In search of how, not what, of writing process she mentioned a number of references and some aspects of the process of writing as the rooms of the writers and their relation with writing instruments. From this point through the words of Barthes she describes how writing is a kind of (often tacit) processes where the action of tracing signs over a surface becomes an embody scription, a gestural pleasure similar with that in painting.

But a quote of Roland Barthes about instruments reminds us (in particular, Eva) of an unforgettable session of scriptions: “I would say… that I have an almost obsessive relation to writing instruments.”  and then he comments “In short, I’ve tried everything… except Bics with which I feel no affinity.”

Here are some of the best drawings of Eva Aleman, Carolina Verd and maybe María Barrena made during a great sesion of Imprografika called “Dibujar Resonancias-Drawing Resonances” (2013) where we tryied to “explode” the Bics, this instrument “with which I feel no affinity“.
